This article presents a synthesis of the sociolinguistic situation of the Polish–Belarusian borderland, on the territory of the former parish of Usnar. Field studies were conducted systematically in the years 2015–2020 and irregularly in the years 2021–2023. The author employed an original method based on using museum fund. The paper focuses on the influence of the border (the state one, as well as other types of borders) on the sociolinguistic situation of the microarea. Particularly noteworthy is the persistent division into settlements of the petty nobility and villages, along with the corresponding language codes.
