Ucieczka w Kresy
Abstrakt
The article is devoted to Maria Konopnicka’s poetry dating from the period 1902−1910. It was the time, starting at her 25th anniversary conjoined with the recognition of her as one of the nation’s bards, when she directs her attention to the Eastern Borderlands. Her anachronic reading of the Borderlands is patronized by Niemcewicz, Pol, Sienkiewicz. The article elaborates also Konopnicka’s post-revolutionary ideological volta. Disappointed with the revolution of 1905, Konopnicka who popularized Poland of the Jagiellonian dynasty near the turn of the twentieth century (Polish Territories, The Historical Songbook, Into the Depth), just before her death writes a poem that engages nearly all of the National Democracy’s imagery (Rota).
